Ricardo Vilas Freire is a Brazilian multidisciplinary artist who uses performance to discuss collective social practices. His research explores everyday landscapes, games with pre-established rules and informal ones, generating collaborative projects and objects that question ideas of, success, failure, productivity, labor, and site-specific relationships.
Graduated with academic distinction as Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, his work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the 17th Santiago Media Arts Biennial (Cineteca Nacional de Chile, Santiago, Chile), the 5th International Performance Festival Imaginarios Urbanos (Pinacoteca do Ceará - CE, Chao SLZ - MA, and Galpão Bela Maré - RJ), the Paulo Nazareth Artistic Occupation (MG), and the Chicago Athletic Association (Chicago, USA).
He participated as artist and designed the visual identity for the 7th Sertão Biennial of Visual Arts.
